Helpful hints.

• 1. Try to use the "Intermarche" when you exit the A40. If you need ski gear go to " Quechua" on left on way in 500metres after Intermarche. It is 'Decathlon's outdoor outlet. Quality and extremely cheap.
• 2. There are 3 other "Spar" supermarkets in St Gervais.
• 3. No banks in Le Bettex.take cash euros with you. The flat is very secure.  No crime anyway!!!
• 4. The best+ cheapest local ski hire shop is just before you enter Le Bettex on the right-"Twinner sport" ask for Pierre. Tell him tony the Welsh man [gallois] with moustache sent you. Rates are in a folder near the radio/cd with other information in the flat.
• 5. The best local shop is next door to twinner sport. "produits savoyade". Very friendly and open for when return from skiing.
• 6. The 3 nearest bar/restaurants from the flat are at Les Communailles. A 12 minute walk in boots. The directions are in the folder by the radio.
• 7. There is also a small selection of bar/restaurants on the road between Les Communailes and Le Bettex and in Le Bettex itself. See the info folder inside 'Chez Gibson'.
• 8. Eating on the piste varies. Generally, the nearer you are to megeve then the prices increase. The "Igloo" at the top of the "Ideal" lift offers a varied hot lunchtime service. Spag bol cheap + good portion plus plat de jour. 3 others to speak of. On "clementimes" blue run [9]-very rustic french but be early. "Le Gouet" 200 metres away is also excellent. "le Plateau de la Croix" is a self service restaurant with good plat de jour.
• 9. Best ski runs: Red Princess/ grand bois [91/94], blue "La Finance" [149] to return to Le Bettex from "Igloo", "Clementimes"[9], "la Marmire"[148], Plus 140,162,17 "Grand Choucas"  in powder-just go 4it!!!, 31,32/33.
• 10. Restaurants St gervais: "4 Epices" on left on way back in, "Troubadour" and the "one next door to it" both on one way system on right on way out. 3 course 17-25 euros for dinner.     
• 11. Megeve is beautiful and worth a visit if you have a day off. Inside corner café/restaurant next to large outside café on main square has super, good value lunch. Outside ice rink.
• 12. St Gervais has a midweek ice hockey team. Look for posters or ask at tourist info for match dates.
• 13. Please put wet ski boots/footwear on doormats in front of pauo doors to protect carpets.
• 14. Dustbins inside foyer entrance. 2 bottle banks on way to pistes.
• 15. Turn heaters fully off when not in flat -potential fire risk
